In the evolving landscape of holistic animal health, thermography is rapidly emerging as a powerful, non-invasive diagnostic tool. Whether you're supporting performance horses, aging dogs, or rehabilitating rescued animals, thermography offers a unique window into the physiological imbalances that can underlie pain, inflammation, and structural dysfunction.

What is Thermography?
Thermography, or thermal imaging, uses infrared cameras to detect heat patterns on the surface of the body. These patterns reflect blood flow and inflammation, which can help identify problem areas before they manifest as visible symptoms or lameness. It's entirely non-contact, making it ideal for sensitive animals and early detection.
Why Use Thermography in Holistic Practice?
Early Detection of Imbalances: Subtle thermal shifts can reveal inflammation, nerve irritation, or circulatory issues—often before they’re detectable through palpation or gait analysis.
Complement to Other Modalities: Thermography pairs beautifully with animal massage, kinesiology taping, craniosacral therapy, and cold laser therapy. It helps therapists target areas needing support and provides visual feedback on treatment progress.
Non-Invasive and Painless: Animals remain relaxed and unrestrained during imaging, which ensures accuracy and minimizes stress.
Applications in Practice
Thermography is especially useful in identifying:
Saddle fit issues in horses
TMJ or cranial imbalances
Muscle strain or compensation patterns
Pre- and post-performance scans
Lameness or gait discrepancies not evident through traditional exams

A Course in the Making: Launching in 2026!
We’re excited to announce that we are developing a Thermography for Animal Practitioners course, set to launch in 2026! This comprehensive training will teach you how to:
Operate thermal imaging equipment
Interpret thermographic scans
Integrate thermal findings into your holistic evaluations
Use thermography as part of your case documentation
Whether you’re an equine bodyworker, canine massage therapist, or integrative practitioner, this course will elevate your practice by combining science and intuition.
